White Flowers

White Flowers

Oil on wood

10 x 10 inches

Emma McClure

Emma’s paintings are intuitive, her ideas being drawn from her daily life and the people and things that surround her.   A moment glimpsed while visiting a farm or from a walk in the park with her dog, these simple pursuits inspire her work, in this regard her paintings are reminiscent of the work of Mary Newcomb and Winifred Nicholson.

Vases, jar and plants that inhabit her daily life feature, their perspective and proportions distorted and changed, the effect is playful and charming.  The colour harmony in her work and the simplicity of her style gives her work a vibrant immediacy.  Liberal use of paint builds a sumptuous texture and combines beautifully with her carefully chosen pastel palette.
