Mhairi Corr

Mhairi Corr is an established paper pulp artist. She studied at Glasgow School
of Art and has exhibited her figurative work throughout the UK.
Developing the medium of paper pulp was due to the intervention of a
downstairs neighbour. Sounds of sawing and hammering wood in a tenement
flat led to justifiable complaints. Necessity being the mother of Invention,
figures started to evolve silently out of pulped paper instead of carved from
wood.   The neighbour did me a favour.   Paper Pulp is a more flexible medium. It is like
a mixture of plasticine and mud, perfect for tuning into a child-like state of
flow.

I find it is easy to project a back story on to these characters. Conversely, they
are also our audience and there is an uneasy feeling that they are doing the
same with us.
